Food For Health

food pyramid1 300x259 Food For HealthFood…it is probably one of the greatest things about being human, we get to eat incredible tasting food.  The our bodies desire food, and how are bodies need food, is the best thing ever!  I like many people, absolutely love eating good meals.  I am a huge fan of meat, and there is nothing better than a nice big juicy steak on my plate.  But although food is a good thing, to much of a good thing can be a bad thing.  Our body needs the nutrients and vitamins from food to operate correctly, but when we eat the wrong types of food, or mass amounts of food, then that is where we make a good thing bad.

You hear about all these diets…Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers…how you need to deprive yourself of certain foods.  In a way through these diets, foods can be seen as a bad thing.  But they are not!! Foods are a great thing and do not let anyone tell you otherwise!  It is not a horrible sin to have some ice cream once in a while, or a piece of cake.  These delicious treats have been given a bad rap, but that is because people do not know when to stop…they have no self discipline.  People need to learn how to have a small treat, or eat smaller portions of food.  It is called…get ready…this might shock you…a balanced diet.

A balanced diet! Who would have thought of that!  Most people think that eating a balanced diet means that you are eating cardboard.  When in fact, a balanced diet means that you are getting part of every food group into your diet, but in a proper and healthy way.  Do you know that you can lose weight by changing your eating habits?  Do you know that you might be sabotaging your workout plan because you are eating terribly?  Implementing a balanced diet into your life will help you change your health quickly.  If you do not know the proper way to change your life, then go to www.mypyramid.gov/mypyramid/index.aspx.

Cardio or Weight Lifting First?

By FitnessDude · Comments (0)

Carlos asked:

Does it matter what order I do my workouts in?  What should I do first…Cardio or Weight Lifting?

Ask The Fitness Dude’s Answer:

b172d921bcb86d5b gym scene1 Cardio or Weight Lifting First? That is a great question Carlos!  It actually depends.  It depends if you are working out the same muscle group.  Let’s say you were doing some weight lifting for your legs or lower body and running for your cardio.  You would actually want to do the weight lifting first, because lifting weights help you retain your muscles, especially if you are dieting.  Cardio does not retain your muscles.

On the other hand…Let’s say you were lifting weights for your upper body and running for cardio.  The order simply does not matter.  Begin with whatever you feel like.

Thank you for the question Carlos, I hope that helps.

Do you have a question? Then Ask The Fitness Dude and get an answer!  Just click on the notepad located at the bottom of the screen.  Fill out and submit the form.
