Abdominal Training

Why is Abdominal training important?  It is arguably the sexiest region to look at on the body, 32% of women say it’s the sexiest muscle group on the man.  The abdominal region is highly coveted by mostly everyone.  Now, I am not talking about those huge bodybuilders who grease themselves up and flex their muscles for the whole world to see, I am talking about toned abdominal muscles that look great, as well as normal.

There is nothing wrong with wanting defined abs, but here is the problem…exercise companies know you want sexy abs, and they will try to suck you in with their infomercials and their “promises.”  I am tired of seeing all the gimmicks on TV that promise you 6 PACK ABS, with as little as 10 minutes a day.  No abs machine is going to get you six pack abs.  You can strengthen your core, but it takes a lot more than just abs workouts to achieve six pack abs.

flat stomach 1 Abdominal TrainingYou cannot target fat loss to one specific area on your body, it is very important to do abdominal workouts (which we will talk about), but it cannot be the only thing you do.  You need to incorporate cardiovascular training, weight lifting, and interval training.  You need to turn your body into a fat burning machine, and you do that by raising your lean muscle mass, because muscles burns fat.  You also need to have a healthy diet, there are certain foods that can help you get your sexy flat abs, like foods with protein, and foods that are either whole grain or whole wheat.  But let get to some of the reasons why strong flat abs are important, other than just looking good.

men abs.45175617 std Abdominal TrainingYes, great looking abs go further than just skin deep, it’s not all about looking good.  There are many health benefits to strengthening your core that will help you live a long and healthy life.  If you are experiencing back pain, most the time it is because of the baggage you are carrying up front.  Your back is supporting all that weight called your belly, or beer belly.  Strengthening your abs will also help you with everyday activities.  Just think about all the movements we do, twisting, bending, pushing, and pulling, we engage our core far more than we realize, and if we had a strong core than we would be less likely to injure ourselves.  Belly fat has also been related to heart disease, the fat that surrounds our midsections is said to be the most dangerous fat for our hearts.

When you training your body and you come to your abdominal workouts, it is important to find an abs routine that will target each section of your abdominal region.  Target these abdominal regions:

  • Rectus Abdominis
  • Transverse Abdominis
  • External Obliques
  • Internal Obliques

Why Should People exercise?

This might seem like an odd question, but it is something that people ask quite a bit.  ”Why should people exercise?”  What is the point!?  Why put your body through all that tough work?  The good news is…if you are asking this question, then you are already moving in the right direction, and you will not be disappointed with the answer.

benefits of aerobic exercises 150x150 Why Should People exercise? It is no secret that most people are overweight, especially here in America.  Even children are overweight.  Being overweight mostly happens because of two things, an unhealthy diet and little or no exercise.  There is a reason why diabetes and heart disease is affecting the U.S. like an epidemic, and it is because of those two reasons. Most of us already know that exercising is good for losing weight, and can help you avoid heart disease, but what are some other benefits that exercising has to offer.

Exercising helps…

  1. Release stress – Exercise releases endorphins, which makes you body feel good.  It also helps decrease stress hormones like Cortisol.  If you have stressful life, you definitely want to exercise, because stress often leads to weight gain.
  2. Sleeping – Exercising can help you sleep better at night, which also helps your body feel better and helps to release stress.  Be aware, sometimes if you workout before you go to bed, it can actually keep awake.
  3. Boost your energy – Exercising helps you pump more oxygen into your body, which helps your heart, lungs, blood circulation, and helps pump nutrients into your tissues.
  4. Back issues – Not all…but a lot of back pain is caused by people being overweight.  Exercise can help release the load (from you belly) that your back is carrying.
  5. Sex life – If none of these other reasons motivate you in wanting to exercise, than this reason should.  Most people complain about a lost flame in their sex lives, exercise can help rekindle that fire.  Exercising helps with longevity and stamina.  Lets be real, what the body goes through during sex can be very exhausting, but if you have a healthy exercise routine, then your body may be more equipped to handle those intimate times.
  6. Self-esteem – There is nothing worse than being lazy and having a low self-esteem.  Get active!  Try to find a sport or a hobby that allows you to get outside, you’ll be amazed how better you feel about yourself when you accomplish some personal goals.

Squat 2 150x150 Why Should People exercise?Remember, exercising is not just for people who are overweight.  Exercising is for everyone, no matter what your weight is or how old you are.  If you have the mental capacity are physically able to do some type of exercise, than I encourage you to take care of your body.  Believe it or not, exercising can be a lot of fun; you just got to find out what you like to do.  Do not let laziness sneak into your life, because you will regret it later on in your life.

So you want to run a marathon?  Chances are, if you are looking up on “how to train for a marathon,” you probably have not done one yet.  You are either a beginner runner, or you could actually be a seasoned runner.  Either way, you can run a marathon. With the right training and the right frame of mind, you can do it!

Are you up for the challenge?  Running a marathon is no easy task, it is going to take a lot of discipline. But if you complete a marathon, you will join an elite group of people, there is less than 1% of people in the world who have completed a marathon…Now that is good company!  I encourage you, if you really want to do this then don’t give up and stick with your training.

ny marathon 300x225 How To Train For A MarathonSo how do you train for a marathon?…Well you need to run.  If you are a beginner at running, do not worry about running for distance, which will come later.  Instead start off by trying to run for 30-minutes straight.  If you can’t run for 30-minutes straight right away, a mix between running and walking is okay, but do not stop and take a rest.  Running for time is not only great for your body, but it will also build mental toughness.  Mental toughness is just as important as physical endurance, because your body “is” going to get tired, but you need to have the mental stamina to push yourself.  After you are able to run for 30 minutes straight, then try to run for a longer time.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure to drink water!
  • Make sure to have 2 to 3 rest days a week. (This will help your legs recover)
  • Eat properly; lunch and dinner should have carbs! (This will also help your body to recover)
  • Where the right apparel. (Good running shoes, light shorts, and a light shirt.  Avoid cotton…See a running shoe specialist)
  • Ice your injuries, or soreness.

Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to train before a marathon, remember a marathon is around 26.2 miles long; you do not want to be unprepared.  Before doing the Marathon, you will want to set personal goals.  These goals might include:

  • Running a 5k
  • Running a 10k
  • Running a half marathon
  • Then running a whole marathon

These goals will help your mental toughness in achieving the BIG GOAL.  Before doing a marathon, you should be able to run over 40 miles in a week and on one day you will want to run 26.2 miles.  Another important note: If you are running over 10 miles, you will need a sports drink to help replenish your body.  Gatorade is great for long distance running…it really does work!
